Hi, I'm Erick Muller.

This is my digital playground. Welcome!

A Few Details About Me

  • I was born in Mexico. I lived there for the first 11 years of my life until my parents decided to move to the States. Since then, I've lived in Minnesota, North Dakota, and now Texas. Moving to the U.S. without knowing English meant I spent a lot of my childhood feeling a bit out of place.
  • During middle school and high school, I was a very quiet kid. I spent a lot of time in my own head, thinking and observing rather than speaking. I was naturally introspective, which shaped the way I saw the world and interacted with people.
  • In 2012, I went to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where I explored different majors—Physics, Math, and Economics. I was curious about a lot of things but didn’t see a clear career path in any of them. After three years, I decided to step away from college to figure things out on my own.
  • In 2015, I started a personal project where I built a website centered around a niche I was interested in. Through that experience, I learned how to create and manage content, market online, and design for the web. That project introduced me to the world of web design, which quickly became a passion of mine.
  • Since then, I've been a freelance web designer/developer, refining my skills and working on various projects. Along the way, I developed a deep interest in exploring new software technologies, always looking for tools and systems that enhance my creativity and efficiency.

Hobbies and Interests

I'm deeply interested in philosophy, self-development, and the evolving landscape of software, especially AI technology. It’s incredible to witness how AI is transforming the world, and I feel lucky to be alive during such a pivotal shift in history.

In my free time, I enjoy writing, listening to all kinds of podcasts, playing chess, and reading—mostly through audiobooks.

This year (2025) I plan on learning to play the piano. I figure it's something I can dive into even after AI is able to do everything for us.

Mission and Values

I'm a proponent of self-directed learning. My big-picture goal is to liberate people, including myself, from the tragic idea that the only way to learn about the world is by confining ourselves in classrooms and receiving information detached from meaning. I think we should all strive to be life-long learners. With this blog, I intend to lead by example by learning out loud.

I try my best to live under the principle of charity. This means that I try to be as charitable as possible when interpreting a person's words, actions, and beliefs.

Truth and honesty are are my most cherished values.
